Our story
Our story at Platform began back in 2010, when we – Ross (“Sausage”) and Claire (“Pear”) Moore – relocated to Bridport and decided to turn our passion for food into something real.
Claire started small with a baking stall on the famous Bridport Market, where her fresh cupcakes, scones and treats quickly won over locals and visitors alike. Within weeks she was selling out every Saturday, building a loyal following that kept coming back for more.
Ross jumped in soon after, and together we expanded beyond the market stall, supplying wholesale cakes and bakes to pubs, restaurants and tearooms across Dorset, complete with a delivery service. What began as Moore Than Cupcakes grew fast – before long we were feeding some of the biggest tourist spots in the South West with our signature treats.
Demand naturally pushed us into full event catering. After a brief stint as The Dorset Catering Company, we rebranded as Sausage & Pear in 2012 – a playful nod to our childhood nicknames that captured our personal, down-to-earth approach.
From there we catered everything from coastal garden parties and corporate launches to weddings across Dorset and as far as London, always prioritising seasonal ingredients from Jurassic Coast suppliers who shared our focus on sustainability and quality.
Eventually, our catering success led us back home to create Platform – our multi-award-winning 2 AA Rosette restaurant housed in West Bay’s old railway station.
Here, those same values come to life every day: generous flavours, warm hospitality and attention to detail, whether you’re enjoying a relaxed lunch, afternoon tea or a private event in our unique space.
With over 20 years in hospitality between us, Platform isn’t just a restaurant – it’s the natural next step in our Bridport market stall story.
Much love,
Ross & Claire
